Wood cores for skis made of paulowna wood.
Paulownia has become an excellent choice of wood for making skis. Ski making companies such as Rosignol already use paulownia wood in their ski cores, offering a non-comparable lightness and strength.
Paulownia wood has a similar strength to weight ratio than aluminium.
Our paulownia wood cores for skis are handcrafted, one by one, made with 2cm wide strips glued together. Paulownia strips of same length and width.
- Sustainable source: Paulownia wood grown locally. Absorbs 10 times more CO2 than any other species.
- Fine and soft grain: Admits very well paints, varnishes and lacqers
- Resistant: Great resistance to moisture and putrefaction.
- Light: The “aluminum” of the woods. Apparent density at 12% humidity: 260 kg / m3
Our standard paulownia ski wood cores measures are: 1900x150x14mm
